Belconnen, ACT, July 26 -- ACT Policing issued the following media release:

Police have arrested and charged two men overnight for drink driving and other road related offences.

At about 12am Saturday 26 July, police were driving along Drakeford Drive in Kambah when they observed a blue coloured Mitsubishi Lancer allegedly speeding at 128km/hr in an 80km/hr speed zone.

Police stopped the vehicle and conducted a roadside breath test on the driver which returned a positive result. He was transported to Tuggeranong Police Stationwhere he returned a breath analysis of 0.117.

The 48-year oldman from Harrison was arrested and charged with speeding and drink driving.

In a separate incident at around 1am (Saturday 26 July) police stopped a blue Mitsubishi Tritonon Gungahlin Drive in Gungahlin. The driver was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result. Police checks revealed the driver also had a suspended licence and was driving an unregistered vehicle.

The 23 year-oldman from Harrison was taken to Gungahlin Police Station to undergo a breath analysis test which returned a result of 0.147. He was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House and charged with drink driving, driving while suspended and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Both drivers wereissued an immediate suspension notice, suspending their right to drive in the ACT for 90 days and arrested.

They will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.

Police continue to remind drivers of the dangers of speeding and driving while impaired.

"All road users have a responsibility to keep our roads safe.If you are going to drink alcohol, then don't drive. You are putting the lives of other road users and your own life at risk," Officer in Charge of Tuggeranong Police Station Detective Acting Inspector Troy Gordon said.

"Police will continue to target impaired drivers and remove dangerous drivers from our roads. You will be arrested and you will lose the right to drive in our community for 90 days.

"Plan ahead, have a designated driver, catch a taxi or Uber or use public transport to get home, and keep our roads safe."
