Belconnen, ACT, Sept. 24 -- ACT Policing issued the following media release:
A man and a woman have been charged after astolen vehicle was recovered in Weston yesterday.
About 12:15pm yesterday (Tuesday, 23 September 2025) ACT Policing received a call from a member of the public, reporting a black Mercedes sedan travelling at speed through a school zone.
A short time later, police located the Mercedesparked in a carport in Weston and observeda man and a woman leaving the vehicle. Two children were also located in the rear seat of the Mercedes.
Checks on the vehicle confirmed it was reported stolen from a Forrest residence earlier this month. The Mercedes was seized for a forensic examination.
A 45-year-old Mawson man and a 48-year-old woman were subsequently arrested. The woman was also allegedly found to be in possession of items believed stolen including car keys, jewellery, mobile phones and watches.
The Mawson man was charged with ride/drive motor vehicle without consent and breach of parole. He also returned a positive roadside drug test.
The woman was charged with unlawful possession of stolen property, ride/drive motor vehicle without consent and breach of a good behaviour order. Both are expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, 24 September 2025).
The two children were placed in emergency care.
