BRISBANE, Queensland, Aug. 31 -- The Queensland Department of the Premier and Cabinet issued text of the following statement:

Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training

The Honourable Ros Bates

* Critical minerals collaboration, mining and education key focuses of trade mission to Latin America. * Regional Queensland businesses in resources, mining technology, agriculture andAgTech positioned to benefit from growing Latin American markets. * TheCrisafulli Government is unlocking international opportunities for Queensland businesses to grow exports and create jobs after Labor's decade of decline.

TheCrisafulli Government is delivering new opportunities for Queensland exporters, regional businesses and education providers by opening more doors into three growing Latin American markets.

A trade mission to Chile, Peru and Columbia will expand critical minerals collaboration and aim to facilitate deals with mining equipment, technology and services companies.

The delegation will also be front and centre at several education expos to position Queensland as the premier destination for students looking to study in Australia.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering more jobs and better services through a stronger economy, with its open for business approach securing more investment and trade for Queensland.

Labor's decade of decline damaged Queensland's international reputation, as anti-mining policies stalled investment and missed opportunities across the economy cost jobs across the State.

The trade mission will build on Queensland's growing relationship with Latin America, where goods exports increased 20.5 per cent to $1.5 billion in 2025-26.

From mining technology and services in Central Queensland to agriculture and AgTech businesses across the regions, stronger access and deeper relationships in Latin American markets means more opportunities for Queensland businesses to win contracts, grow exports and support local jobs.

The mission puts the recently launched Queensland-Latin America Trade and Investment Strategy 2026-2028 into action as the Crisafulli Government continues its trade reset after Labor's decade of decline.

Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates said the Crisafulli Government was focused on turning Queensland's international relationships into real commercial outcomes for businesses and communities.

"Queensland businesses have the skills, products and expertise these markets are looking for, and we want to turn that into more customers, more contracts and more jobs back home," Minister Bates said.

"Latin America is a natural fit for Queensland because our economies share strengths in sectors such as resources and mining, agriculture and education."

"By strengthening our ties within Latin America, we are strengthening the foundation for more resilient supply chains, greater market access and stronger relationships that will deliver long-term prosperity for our State.

"Under Labor's decade of decline, Queensland's international relationships were neglected, and too many opportunities were left on the table.

"Under the Crisafulli Government, Queensland is open for business, investors know it, and we want our exporters competing and winning in global markets."
