Belconnen, ACT, Oct. 15 -- ACT Policing issued the following media release:

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an alleged assault committed against a police officer yesterday afternoon.

About 3:30pm on Tuesday (14 October 2025), police were patrolling on Lonsdale Street in Braddon when they were flagged down by a member of the public alerting them to a man running into traffic on Cooyong Street in Braddon.

Officers observed the man running across multiple lanes of traffic, resulting in drivers braking and swerving to avoid him. Police attempted to remove the man from the road but he evaded police and ran directly in front of a vehicle, causing that vehicle to stop suddenly.

When officers caught up to the man, he then allegedly punched onein the head.

The man fled again but was arrested a short time later,and allegedly became aggressive towards police.

The 31-year-old Gungahlin man has been charged with assault frontline community service provider, attempted assault frontline community service provider, resist territory public official, affray and breach of good behaviour obligations.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (15 October 2025).

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the manon Cooyong Street in Braddon or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
