CANBERRA, ACT, Sept. 3 -- Murray-Darling Basin Authority issued the following news release:

Winning the JS Collings Trophy, which has been awarded almost annually since 1943, Menindee stood out for its outstanding maintenance and presentation, operational resilience, safety and innovation.

MDBA General Manager of Assets, Angus Paton congratulated the WaterNSW team for their leadership in improving dam safety and asset reliability.

"Menindee is a significant storage for the Basin and a critical part of the River Murray system - it's in great hands," Mr Paton said.

"We cannot understate the value of site staff, they are the eyes on the ground - constantly monitoring, maintaining and responding to challenges to keep these assets operating safely and effectively.

"The team at Menindee have set a high standard in maintaining on-site infrastructure for safe and efficient work and completed major maintenance of the bank.

"We thank the WaterNSW team for their dedication on behalf of the Basin community, governments and the MDBA."

Located in far-western New South Wales, Menindee plays a central role in supporting communities, the environment and water users across the Basin. Its management relies on strong cooperation between the MDBA, state water agencies, local communities and First Nations groups.

The JS Collings Trophy is named in honour of J.S. Collings, who served as the inaugural President of the River Murray Commission.
