New national property crime data released today by the Insurance Council of Australia has shown property crime is down in Queensland, following the introduction of Adult Crime, Adult Time laws.
The Insurance Council of Australia has today credited the reduction to the Crisafulli Government's Adult Crime, Adult Time laws, and confirms the laws are making a difference.
The drop in claims for crime is also putting downward pressure on Queensland insurance prices for the first time in a long time.
Key findings by the Insurance Council of Australia include:
* Motor vehicle theft claims in QLD fell by 1.6% in 2025-26 and have fallen by 12.7% over the last two financial years.
* Home theft/burglary claims in QLD fell by 14.8% 2025-26 and have fallen by 34.3% over the last two financial years
These reductions are in stark contrast to skyrocketing crime numbers during Labor Youth Crime Crisis, with stolen car claims rising by 101% between 2015 and 2024, according to the Insurance Council of Australia.
The data follows the Crisafulli Government introducing its Breach Bail, Go to Jail laws, as the next expansion of Adult Crime, Adult Time.
Minister for Youth Justice and Victim Support Laura Gerber said the results were more evidence of the positive impact of Adult Crime, Adult Time in making Queensland safer.
"We are focused on restoring safety where you live with stronger laws including Adult Crime, Adult Time, as well as more police, early intervention and rehabilitation," Minister Gerber said.
"Under Labor, car theft insurance claims more than doubled and Queenslanders were left paying the price of their weak laws, which saw victim numbers rise 193%, and now they want to raise the age of criminal responsibility so youth offenders aren't held responsible for their crimes.
"There's still lots more work to do but this data proves the Crisafulli Government is turning the tide on Labor's Youth Crime Crisis and we'll continue to do that with the next expansion of Adult Crime Adult Time to bail reform.
"These are positive results but we are not taking our foot off the pedal which is why we are delivering breach bail, go to jail, to continue building on the success of Adult Crime, Adult Time which police data shows has reduced victim numbers by 9.6%".
