CANBERRA, ACT, Aug. 26 -- The Treasurer of Australia issued the following media release:
The Albanese Government welcomes another outstanding return achieved by the Future Fund.
These results against a backdrop of ongoing global uncertainty show the Fund's performance is going from strength to strength and backing the nation's priorities.
The Fund made an annual return of 14.8percent for the financial year ending 30June 2026. This is up from 12.2percent for the equivalent period in 2025, 9.1percent in 2024 and 6.0percent in 2023.
This means Australia's sovereign wealth fund has grown by $37.4billion in the past year.
The Fund's 10‑year return of 9.0percent is above the mandated target return of 7.1percent.
The Fund continues to deliver strong results as it invests in the nation's priorities.
Since the Fund's Investment Mandate was updated it has committed $3.5billion to new direct investments in national priority areas.
The Fund invests in national priority areas where it makes financial sense to do so and since the mandate was updated its returns have gone up, not down.
The Fund's average annual returns have been 14.8percent and 12.2percent in the two financial years after the mandate was updated, compared to 9.1percent in the financial year just before it was updated.
These results show our opponents were wrong to engage in scaremongering over modernising the investment mandate.
The Government thanks outgoing CEO of the Future Fund, DrRaphael Arndt, for his contribution over many years, including through a period of significant global uncertainty.
