* The new Bribie Island Bridge will be four-lanes, with the preferred design unveiled. * The existing bridge will be converted into a shared walkway for pedestrians and cyclists. * Geotechnical investigations will start this week to support final design work. * TheCrisafulli Government is building Queensland's future with better roads and more transport, after Labor failed to do so during their decade of decline.

The Crisafulli Government has unveiled the preferred design for a new four-lane Bribie Island Bridge, to get more Queenslanders home sooner and safer.

The preferred design of the new Bribie Island Bridge was shaped by extensive community consultation, and with a four-lane design doubling capacity, improving safety, and connectivity for decades to come.

The design will also preserve the existing bridge for the exclusive use of cyclists and pedestrians, boosting lifestyle opportunities for the Island.

Community feedback on Bribie Island Bridge design will be open until Friday 27 November 2026, with information sessions to be held over the coming weeks.

Geotechnical investigations will start this week to support design work and approvals, providing critical information about ground and seabed conditions to help inform environmental assessments.

The new bridge was a key election commitment and just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering for Bribie Island and building Queensland's future, after a decade of Labor's failed promises and inaction.

Labor repeatedly promised a new bridge during their decade of decline, but failed to deliver it, or even a detailed business case for the bridge. Now the Crisafulli Government is getting with delivering what Labor didn't.

Premier David Crisafulli said the Government was delivering on its promise to improve the transport network for Bribie Island to get Queenslanders home sooner and safer.

"We're delivering a new Bribie Island Bridge just as we promised," Premier Crisafulli said.

"We are doubling the traffic capacity with a new bridge, and preserving the old bridge for pedestrians and cyclists.

"We've listened to fears about the ageing two-lane bridge, which were ignored by the former government, which is why we're progressing our plan for a new four-lane bridge."

Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the former Labor Government talked about a new Bribie Island Bridge for years but failed to plan for delivery, ignoring calls from locals.

"Bribie Island deserves better than the former Labor Government's poor planning and broken promises," Minister Mickelberg said.

"Population growth, tourism and traffic volumes have surged since the existing Bribie Island Bridge was built in six decades ago, but the former Labor Government left this project sitting on the shelf.

"As detailed design progresses, the new Bribie Island Bridge is another project where we will need Canberra to come to the table and get on with environmental approvals."

Member for Pumicestone Ariana Doolan said both announcements marked a long‑awaited turning point for the local community.

"For too long, requests for a new bridge at Bribie Island were ignored and left in the 'too hard' basket under Labor," Ms Doolan said.

"That is why I am proud to be doing what I said I'd do, after Labor took our community for granted for decades.

"The milestone on Bribie Island Bridge reflects our commitment to delivering real infrastructure that supports growing communities."
