BRISBANE, Queensland, Aug. 1 -- Queensland Police Service issued the following media release:
A 23-year-old man has been charged after allegedly driving at a police vehicle in Capalaba yesterday, July 31.
It is alleged, that around 4pm, officers from the Capalaba Tactical Crime Squad attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white Volkswagen Golf with false plates on Noeleen Street.
The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and struck a police vehicle before crashing into a parked Mercedes AMG, causing the AMG to crash into a parked Fiat 500.
The driver and sole occupant of the Volkswagen, a 23-year-old Capalaba man, fled the scene on foot before officers arrested him a short distance away.
He has been charged with multiple offences including one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade, damaging an emergency vehicle when operating a motor vehicle, fail to comply with duties of driver involved in a crash, and using, or permitting use of, vehicle for which a number plate attached given granted for another vehicle.
The man is due to appear before Cleveland Magistrates Court today, August 1.
